Preview to the event schedule Wrocław 2016

Wrocław has approximately 650,000 inhabitants, is the fourth largest city in Poland and is located directly at the Odra river and its four tributaries. In the metropolitan area there are 12 islands and 117 bridges. A peculiarity of the events during the festival "European Capital of Culture 2016" is the fact that all inhabitants of Wrocław are actively involved in the preparations and implementation. The curators have defined a total of eight thematic areas: theater, film, music, opera, visual arts, literature and reading, performance, architecture. The official program will be published in July 2015.

January

• Spirits of Wrocław: Opening ceremony. An action-packed show with a creative participation of thousands inhabitants, which takes place in urban areas. The incredible local history and the diversity of urban development will be presented.

• Flow: A performance that will be prepared by hundreds of participants to celebrate the half time of the festival “European Capital of Culture 2016”. At the riverbanks, in the parks and gardens, on the bridges and in the courtyards of the area more than 60 performances, happenings and cultural encounters will take place.
